A new era of summer baseball is coming to Mocksville and Davie County. The Blue Ridge League has announced the Davie Crocketts, a college-level wood-bat team that will begin playing in 2026 at Mando Field in Rich Park.
The Crocketts will bring strong competition to Mocksville, with talented college players traveling from across the region to compete during the summer months. The team’s name is a playful nod to legendary frontiersman Davy Crockett, using the Davie County spelling as his first name.
The Blue Ridge League is known as one of the top collegiate summer leagues in the Southeast, with teams based in North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. Local fans may recognize Winston-Salem’s Carolina Disco Turkeys as one of the league rivals the Crocketts will face.

A Team Built Around Local Pride
The team’s identity is inspired by frontier toughness and independence, values that connect well with Davie County’s history and spirit. The branding was designed to live beyond the baseball field, giving fans something they’ll want to wear on hats, shirts, and other gear.
The main logo shows a rugged frontier character wearing a raccoon cap. The artwork is hand-drawn with vintage texture, but still bold and modern. The designers wanted a logo strong enough to stand on its own, not just as a uniform mark. For added fun, the character will be known as Davie, and his raccoon cap—drawn as if it’s alive—will be called Crockett.
The team colors—deep green, brown, tan, and black—were chosen to endure over time and complement the look and materials of Mando Field, especially the dark grandstand and wooden details.
Preparing for Opening Day
“Our focus is building something that lasts,” said Greg Sullivan, Chairman of the Blue Ridge League. “That means great baseball, but it also means creating a brand people are proud to wear. While Daniel Boone is the frontiersman usually associated with Davie County, we leaned into wordplay and fun. We’ve always admired Mando Field’s character and Mocksville as a baseball town, and can’t wait to bring it to life this summer.”
Before the season starts, improvements will be made to Mando Field to enhance sound, sightlines, and overall fan experience. These upgrades will be done in partnership with the Town of Mocksville.
The Crocketts’ first season will begin in late May and run through late July. Tickets will go on sale this spring, including single-game tickets, group packages, and season passes. Single-game tickets will cost $7.
