Join the Arbor Day Celebration on April 24th!
The Town of Mocksville is proud to celebrate its 33rd consecutive year as part of Tree City USA! Join us on Friday, April 24th, at 10 a.m. at Rich Park Shelter 1, 202 Park Drive, Mocksville, as we commemorate this milestone with a special tree-planting ceremony.
Honoring Our Commitment to Trees
During the event, Mayor Will Marklin will read the official Arbor Day proclamation, reinforcing our community’s commitment to tree planting, care, and preservation. Students from Mocksville Elementary School will join us in planting the trees. We are also honored to welcome Ranger James Bentley from the North Carolina Forest Service, who will present Mocksville with the prestigious Tree City USA 2025 Award in recognition of our dedication to urban forestry management.

What is Arbor Day?
Arbor Day, derived from the Latin word “arbor,” meaning tree, is a global celebration dedicated to planting, maintaining, and appreciating trees. Communities worldwide observe this day in various ways, emphasizing the vital role trees play in our environment and daily lives.
What is Tree City USA?
Tree City USA is a national program that sets the standard for sound urban forestry management. To achieve and maintain Tree City USA status, communities must meet four key criteria annually, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to green spaces and sustainable forestry practices.

A Team Effort
“Thirty-three years as a Tree City USA is an accomplishment our community is proud of. On Arbor Day, we also extend our appreciation to our Parks and Grounds Director, Chris Vaughn, and his team, and our Tree Board, Judith Hinkley, Carl Lambert, Judy Rosser, and Alex Thompson, for their continued dedication to caring for the trees that strengthen our community, “said Human Resources Director/Town Clerk Emily Quance.
