Message From The Mayor

Have You Been to Town Lately?

2023-04-03T13:13:53-04:00

Have you been to town lately? I’m not talking about Winston Salem or Salisbury - I am referring to beautiful downtown Mocksville. There are so many things going on this summer in town. Tami Langdon and the Downtown Merchants Group have put together a fabulous list of activities and events that will keep you as busy and engaged as you want to be. There will be movies shown in the evening at the Main Street Park, a farmers market every Wednesday in the former Mocksville Police Department parking lot, along with several concerts on the square. Tami has planned a “Wacky [...]

Mayor Marklin – 2021 End of Year Message

2023-04-03T13:20:26-04:00

Welcome to our newly elected board members! Johnny Frye, Jenny Stevenson, and Carl Lambert were sworn into office at our December 4th meeting. They will join Justin Draughn and Rob Taylor in representing the citizens of Mocksville as we move forward into 2022. Thank you for your willingness to serve. I had the opportunity to have coffee this week at The Factory in downtown Mocksville with a new town resident. He could not believe all of the activity in our small town during the holiday season.  He commented on the number of folks on North Main Street on Halloween, the excitement [...]

2023-04-03T13:20:56-04:00

Fall is finally here! With cooler weather upon us, it is time to get out and enjoy some of the events going on in and around our town.  Last weekend you could have chosen between the Platters tribute band at the Brock, the music of Soundcraft at the Masonic Picnic, Cassette Rewind playing at the Davie Community Park, or just dining out at one of our restaurants here in town. On top of all of that, there are football games, soccer matches, tennis matches, and all kinds of sporting events going on for you to attend in and around the [...]

Mocksville Mayor Has A Memorial Day Message

2023-04-03T13:16:05-04:00

Memorial Day Message from Mayor Will Marklin As we head into the Memorial Day weekend I’d like to honor the memory of our servicemen and women who paid the ultimate price to protect our freedom and to thank their families for their sacrifice. Davie County has a rich history of service above self as demonstrated by our memorial marker in front of the county building downtown.  In addition to a remembrance of those we have lost, this Memorial Day Weekend also marks the beginning of Phase 2 of Governor Cooper’s plan to re-open the state. As a reminder, here are the [...]

Statement From Mocksville Mayor Regarding Plan to Reopen

2023-04-03T13:16:21-04:00

Statement From Town of Mocksville Mayor, Will Marklin I’d like to thank you for your efforts at social distancing and staying at home.  I know that it hasn’t been easy, but it has been heartening to see the way you have banded together to support each other during this challenging time.  Over the last several weeks, the Town of Mocksville has adopted the State of North Carolina’s guidelines for slowing the spread of COVID-19. As I’m sure you already know, Governor Cooper has extended the stay at home order through May 8th with a three-phase plan to reopen the state once [...]

Easter Message from Mocksville Mayor Will Marklin

2023-04-03T13:16:31-04:00

As we head into the Easter weekend I wanted to thank you for your efforts at social distancing. You are doing a great job and I’m really proud of you! Please keep it up. I know that this weekend will be especially hard for those of you who are accustomed to celebrating with large gatherings of family and friends and special church services. Although we will miss those things, I have faith that we will all be able to resume our cherished traditions next year and perhaps value them even more.  Get creative. Consider other ways to celebrate with family and [...]

Mocksville Mayor Clarifies Stay At Home Order

2023-04-03T13:16:44-04:00

Message from Mocksville Mayor Will Marklin Over the last several weeks, Davie County and the State of North Carolina, have taken actions to address the spread of COVID-19.  This includes limiting mass gatherings to 50 people or less, the closure of schools statewide through May 15, limiting restaurants to takeout orders, and the closing of hair/nail salons, spas, gyms, and recreation centers. Thousands of employees from every business sector are either not working or teleworking to stay in business and to provide needed services to the community. Despite these measures, many leaders do not believe we have gone far enough to [...]

Mayor’s Corner

2023-04-03T13:17:40-04:00

Another year of municipal elections is behind us and we are ready to move forward into 2020.  Congratulations to Justin Draughn and Rob Taylor for being elected to the Mocksville Town Board of Commissioners. I am looking forward to working with you on all the issues that come before our town as we proceed.  I would like to thank Brent Ward for serving Mocksville over the last four years. During this period we have seen many improvements at Rich Park, we constructed the new downtown park, replaced all the underground infrastructure in the town square, started renovations at our wastewater treatment plant, purchased a new fire truck, [...]
