Your input will guide the Town’s Comprehensive and Downtown Master Plans

Your Voice Matters!

The Town of Mocksville is asking residents, business owners, and community members to help shape the future of our town — and it starts with a survey.

The Comprehensive Plan Update and Downtown Master Plan are officially underway, and the community survey is open now through the end of November 2025. This is your opportunity to share what you love about Mocksville and what improvements you’d like to see in the years ahead.

Why Your Input Is So Important

The Town has partnered with Benchmark Planning, a consulting firm with decades of experience in community and downtown planning, to help develop a shared vision for Mocksville’s future growth and development.

“The more responses we get, the better,” said Mayor Will Marklin. “The information we receive will help us make thoughtful decisions about future town initiatives. If we don’t have good representation from across the community, we can’t make those decisions effectively — so please, take the survey and make your voice heard.”

Two Plans, One Vision for Mocksville

The project includes two interconnected efforts — a Comprehensive Plan Update and the Town’s first-ever Downtown Master Plan.

The Comprehensive Plan Update will guide the Town’s overall direction, including land use, infrastructure, housing, and growth priorities.

The Downtown Master Plan will focus on revitalizing the heart of Mocksville by addressing parking, pedestrian access, public spaces, historic preservation, and development opportunities.

“These plans will help us think strategically about where and how we grow,” explained Benchmark Planning’s President, Jason Epley. “Public input is absolutely essential. We’ll be working closely with the Planning Board, the Downtown Mocksville Collaborative, and the community to ensure that every voice is heard. The survey is a great first step in that process.”

A Thoughtful Approach to Growth

The Town of Mocksville has been laying the groundwork for a deliberate, long-term approach to development. In partnership with the UNC School of Government’s Development Finance Initiative (DFI), the Town has already begun exploring opportunities for redevelopment, including the former Energy United property downtown.

“Rather than rushing into development, we’re focused on making intentional decisions that bring long-term benefits to our residents,” said Town Manager Lee Rollins. “We want to make sure any future growth aligns with our community’s vision and preserves the unique character that defines Mocksville.”

Stay Involved

The survey is just the beginning. Over the next year, Benchmark and Town staff will host listening sessions and downtown-specific workshops to gather more input from residents and businesses.
