Every November, Mocksville pauses to honor the brave men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform. These heroes are not distant figures—they’re our family members, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. They’re the people we see in line at the grocery store or cheering from the sidelines at a ballgame, each with a story of courage and sacrifice that helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy every day.
This year, our community will once again come together through heartfelt tributes, ceremonies, and acts of gratitude to celebrate Davie County’s Veterans. From local school assemblies to tree lightings and picnics, there are countless ways to join in and say “thank you.”

Why We Honor: The Story Behind Veterans Day
Veterans Day began as Armistice Day on November 11, 1919—the first anniversary of the end of World War I. It became a national holiday in 1938 and was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, whether in wartime or peace.
While Memorial Day honors the fallen, Veterans Day celebrates the living—those who continue to embody the spirit of duty, sacrifice, and love of country.

A Community That Never Forgets
From school halls to Main Street Park, Mocksville’s gratitude shines bright each November. Every event, every light, every handshake is a reminder that our Veterans’ courage and service will never be forgotten.
Let’s come together as one community—Mocksville strong, Davie County proud—to celebrate the heroes among us.
