Finance Director and Assistant Town Manager/Town Clerk, Lynn Trivette, will assume the role of Mocksville’s Interim Town Manager on January 1, 2025.

Thriving towns owe their success to dedicated leaders who drive growth and stability. In Mocksville, one of those leaders is Lynn Trivette, who has played a central role in the town’s achievements, serving with distinction as Finance Director and Assistant Town Manager/Town Clerk. Through her pivotal role, she has expertly managed the town’s finances, supported strategic planning efforts, and upheld the principles of efficient governance.

Now, beginning January 1, 2025, Lynn will take on an even greater responsibility as she assumes the position of Interim Town Manager. Her leadership during this transitional period will be instrumental in shaping Mocksville’s future, fostering continued growth, and maintaining the town’s strong foundation.

Finance Director and Assistant Town Manager: A Steward of Mocksville’s Financial Health and Strategic Vision

“Managing a town’s finances is more than balancing budgets; it’s about ensuring long-term stability and growth,” explains Trivette. As she steps into the Interim Town Manager role, her responsibilities will encompass not only financial and administrative oversight but also broader leadership for the entire town.

The dual role already includes planning, coordinating, and directing all aspects of the town’s financial management while also bridging administrative excellence with strategic vision. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing disbursement of town funds.
  • Managing payroll forecasts, accounts payable, and investments.
  • Reviewing the town’s financial position to identify areas for improvement.
  • Designing long-term financial plans for capital improvement programs.
  • Acting as Clerk to the Town Board and custodian of official records.
  • Preparing agendas, minutes, and legal notices.
  • Assisting with budget development, monitoring expenditures, and maintaining financial reports.
  • Responding to public inquiries and serving as a liaison between the community and town leadership.

Under the general direction of the Town Manager, Trivette has supervised a team of professional, technical, and clerical staff to ensure that Mocksville’s financial operations align with its strategic goals. She has served as Interim Town Manager during critical periods in the past and will now again provide stability and leadership as Interim Town Manager while the search for a permanent Town Manager continues.

Mocksville Mayor Will Marklin is pleased that she was willing to accept the role again. “The Mocksville Town Board is working closely with the Piedmont Triad Regional Council to fill the town manager position that will be vacant at the end of December. Lynn Trivette, who served as our interim before Ken Gamble was hired, will serve again during this transition period. Lynn’s proven record of leadership in the town and her knowledge of town finances will keep us moving in a positive direction. I appreciate her willingness to serve in this capacity.

Mocksville Town Manager Ken Gamble, who is retiring effective December 31, 2024, echoed the sentiment.  “Both the Board and I are thrilled to have Lynn serve as Interim Manager beginning on January 1, 2025. Lynn brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and common sense to the position and is no stranger to serving in the role. This will be her fourth time serving in this capacity. I know the Town will be in excellent hands.”

“I’m honored that the Board has trusted me to guide during critical periods,” she shares.

“Each decision we make today impacts Mocksville’s future prosperity,” Trivette adds. “We are committed to transparency and efficiency in managing the community’s resources.”

Trivette joined the Town of Mocksville staff as Finance Director/Town Clerk in 2017 after performing those roles in Jonesville for 10 years. When asked how she came to work in Mocksville, Trivette shares, “Mocksville had an opening for Town Clerk/Finance Director, and it was the perfect location for me, being from Yadkin County. I wanted to continue my career with a larger town that was developing, which would provide growth and bigger challenges.”

Throughout her career, she has continued to hone her skills by earning additional certifications, attending leadership programs, and serving in professional organizations.

Trivette is a Certified Municipal Clerk, a North Carolina Certified Municipal Clerk, and a Certified Master Municipal Clerk.  She is a member of the 2012 Class of Leadership Yadkin County and the 2023 Class of Leadership Davie.

She is an active member of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks and served as District Director for two terms. Most recently, she has been serving as a North Carolina Association Municipal Clerk Mentor (Small Towns), a role she is passionate about. She had the pleasure of mentoring Mocksville Human Resources Director Emily Quance as she achieved the Certified Municipal Clerk designation.

Preparing for the Future

Looking ahead, Trivette aims to ensure a smooth transition for the Administration Department when she retires in December 2026. Her proactive approach to future leadership transition will provide the community with a sense of security about the town’s continuity.

Outside of work, Lynn finds joy in hobbies and family life. Married to her soulmate, Thomas Trivette, for 23 years, she cherishes time with their daughter, Paris Green, and her husband, Zane Green. “Thomas loves to cook and host events, and we’re incredibly proud of Paris, who works as a Mental Health Professional in Surry County Schools, and Zane, who works for Davie County-Environmental Health and serves as a Commissioner for the Town of Boonville,” Trivette shares.

In her free time, Trivette enjoys travel, motorcycle riding, exploring small downtowns, dining at local restaurants, and visiting unique shops. Volunteer work also holds a special place in her heart. “I’ve been involved with Bible School at my church, and my husband and I have fostered children in the past but now rescue dogs in need; our fur babies currently are Max (Davie County) and Rose (McDowell County). Mentoring others and supporting the elderly are passions of mine,” she reveals.

Mocksville’s residents can rest assured knowing that their town is in capable hands and poised for a bright future. “Every day brings new challenges and opportunities,” says Trivette. “But with a shared vision and a commitment to excellence, Mocksville will continue to thrive.”
