Get ready to rev your holiday engines! This Friday night, November 22nd, Mocksville kicks off the season with a hilarious and high-energy tradition: the annual “Twas the Night Before” Bed Race. Teams of local businesses and non-profits will transform Main Street into a speedway of creativity, camaraderie, and competition. (Rain date: Saturday, November 23rd.)

Let the Festivities Begin!

The evening’s excitement starts as downtown Mocksville lights up at dusk. Then, at 6 p.m., cheer for the Parade of Beds as teams showcase their bed-tastic creations. The first race roars off the starting line at 6:30 p.m., ensuring plenty of thrills, laughs, and photo-worthy moments.

Hosted by the Mocksville Tourism Authority, this quirky event has become a community favorite, drawing dozens of teams and hundreds of fans eager to see who will claim victory — and the cash prizes that come with it!

What’s the Race All About?

Each team consists of four speedy pushers and one brave rider who must sit or lie flat on a creatively decorated bed as it hurtles down Main Street. The goal? Reach the finish line faster than anyone else!

Plan Ahead for Road Closures 

Main Street closures begin at 5 p.m., so plan accordingly:

  • North & South Main Streets: Closed at 5 p.m.
  • Horn Street & East Depot: Closed after 5 p.m.
  • West Depot & 117 S. Clement Street: Closed at 5 p.m.
  • Gaither Street & North Main Street: Closed after 5 p.m.

Spectators can park at the Town Hall lot (171 S. Clement Street) and bring a chair to secure a prime viewing spot.
