WILKESBORO STREET ROUNDABOUT OPENING DELAYED – NEW PROJECTED COMPLETION is OCTOBER 1st
Citing delays in replacing underground utility lines, CBL, INC has informed NCDOT and the town that the project will not be completed by the end of August as originally projected.
The new completion date is estimated to be October 1st.
An almost four-week work stoppage occurred due to delays caused by a water line subcontractor waiting on back-ordered parts to put a new water line under the project area in service. This line must be completed and the old line abandoned before any other water, sewer or storm drain utility work can be done on site. NCDOT will begin fining the contractor after the August 30th contract date so the contractor has a strong financial incentive to complete the work as soon as possible.
