As we head into the Easter weekend I wanted to thank you for your efforts at social distancing. You are doing a great job and I’m really proud of you! Please keep it up. I know that this weekend will be especially hard for those of you who are accustomed to celebrating with large gatherings of family and friends and special church services. Although we will miss those things, I have faith that we will all be able to resume our cherished traditions next year and perhaps value them even more.

Get creative. Consider other ways to celebrate with family and friends such as Facetime, Google Duo, Skype or a Zoom conference. Good old-fashioned phone calls are another great way to encourage each other. How about a virtual Easter egg hunt? Google offers a number of suggestions from interactive videos children can watch to ideas on how to hold your own event.
Our local churches are also finding meaningful ways to interact with their members and the community. Many are streaming their services online. Some are hosting drive-in style services. Others are streaming special Easter services beginning tomorrow on Good Friday. Please look for these services this weekend and as we move forward.
As we continue to navigate this difficult and unprecedented time, I would like to remind you that there are numerous local, state, and federal resources available to help you and your family weather this storm. Please click here for a list of resources for our local businesses and individuals who may be seeking assistance. Davie County Covid-19 updates can be found here. And if you haven’t already done so, text COVIDNC to 898-211 for regular updates from the state.
Although it is important to remain aware of what is going on in the world, please do not lose sight of the blessings around you. Take a walk and enjoy our beautiful spring weather, read a book, say a prayer, and tell your family and friends that you love them.
Please remain diligent about social distancing and only go out when absolutely necessary. The more carefully we follow the guidelines now the sooner this will be over. We will get through this together.
I’d like to wish you all a blessed Easter.
Take care and stay well,
Will Marklin
Mayor, Town of Mocksville
