Town of Mocksville Internship Opportunity

The Town of Mocksville is advertising to undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in serving as a management intern with the Town. This opportunity will expose students to experiences in career fields of interest in a local government setting. An intern will have the opportunity to shadow local government professionals from every major department in order to learn how local governments function. Assignments will include special research projects at the request of the Town Manager. The intern needs to be capable of conducting budget and management analysis, and general data analysis through the use of Microsoft Excel. Work may include some clerical work including data entry tasks, filing, copying, etc. An internship with the Town will also include the opportunity to work briefly alongside Town staff, and to also assist in the coordination of events. To be considered for an internship position with the Town of Mocksville, candidates must:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program from an accredited college or university;
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills;
  • Be proficient with computers and software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Be eager to learn and able to work independently as well as with a group;

The Town is interested in appointing one or more paid or unpaid interns depending upon qualifications. Someone with prior local government experience or service with the public is a plus.
