Mayor’s Corner

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Mocksville Town Board members Rob Taylor, Johnny Frye, Lash Sanford, Amy Vaughan-Jones and Brent Ward for their leadership and work over the past year.  Their concern and dedication to the success and positive direction for our town is evident in the many hours of planning and discussion spent determining our guidance.  Thanks to our Interim Manager, Cecil Wood, for stepping in while we focus on searching for a new town manager.  A special thank you to our former manager, Christine Bralley for her years of service and dedication to the town.

Thanks to each employee who works behind the scenes to keep our water running, our leaves picked up, our ball fields mowed and our streets safe.  The combined effort of all of the elected officials, town staff, police officers, fire personnel and public works employees have created a community that I am proud to call home.

In an effort to improve the health and wellbeing of our town and county residents, I am partnering with Mayor Ken Rethmeier of Bermuda Run, Mayor Stephen Corriher of Cooleemee, Jane Simpson of the Davie Community Foundation and Larry Colborne of the Mebane Charitable Foundation to promote an upcoming event in January 2017.  The Healthy Davie Wellness Group is excited to announce a county-wide challenge that will tie into your New Year’s resolution for improved health and wellness.  With help from Wake Forest Baptist Health and Novant Health, we will be conducting free health screenings at various locations.  We will be able to “Know our numbers,” which is the beginning of the pathway to good health.  Be on the lookout for articles and information as to how you might participate in the upcoming Healthy Davie Challenge.
