Celebrating Community Partnership at Rich Park

The Town of Mocksville proudly celebrated the opening of six new public pickleball courts at Rich Park this week, made possible through a generous gift from SBA Home North Carolina.

Town leaders joined company representatives for a ceremonial first serve and paddle exchange, marking the beginning of what both describe as a strong and lasting partnership between the Town and one of its newest corporate citizens.

The new courts are now open to the public and provide an exciting addition to Mocksville’s growing recreational offerings.

Investing in Quality of Life

Before SBA Home North Carolina officially began manufacturing operations in October 2025, company leaders met with Town officials to ask how they could contribute to the community.

That conversation led to the development of six modern pickleball courts designed to serve residents of all ages and skill levels. With durable playing surfaces and clear line markings, the courts offer a safe, accessible, and welcoming space for recreation.

“We wanted to show that we are not just another business operating in the area,” said Angelika Matczak, CEO of SBA Home North Carolina. “Our goal is to become a meaningful part of the community and to build long-term relationships based on openness and partnership. I believe that everyone who comes to play here will be able to feel the culture and values SBA Group brings with it.”

Mayor Will Marklin expressed appreciation for the company’s proactive approach.

“Before they even opened their facility here, they asked what they could do for Mocksville,” said Marklin. “That says a lot about who they are. We’re grateful for their investment in our town — not just economically, but in ways that directly benefit our residents.”

A Growing Recreational Hub

Pickleball continues to be one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, bringing together players of all generations. The addition of six new courts strengthens Rich Park as a destination for recreation, wellness, and community connection.

Town officials anticipate the courts will host casual play, friendly competitions, and potentially future community tournaments as interest continues to grow.

About SBA Home North Carolina

SBA Home North Carolina is part of SBA Group, an international furniture manufacturing company headquartered in Lithuania. The Mocksville facility represents the company’s first manufacturing operation in North America.

The company plans to gradually expand production and grow its workforce to approximately 250 employees. With a total investment of approximately $70 million, the facility represents the largest Lithuanian business investment in the United States to date.

Town leaders say the partnership reflects Mocksville’s continued growth and its ability to attract companies that value both economic opportunity and community engagement.
