Violets Against Teen Violence

NOTE CHANGE IN VENUE: Due to predicted forecast, the proclamation will be on the front entrance/porch of the Mocksville Town Hall

The public is invited to join Mayor F.W. Slate, as he proclaims Teen Dating Violence Awareness April 16- April 30th , 2015 at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 16th on the square in downtown Mocksville.

In honor of Teen Dating Violence Awareness, the Visual Arts Department is excited to announce a “never before tried” art installation! Working alongside the Town of Mocksville, there will be approximately 589 ceramic violets on display in the town square beginning April 16th.

Jessica Allen, art teacher with Davie High school says statistics show one out of three high school students will experience teen dating violence.  Out of an estimated enrollment of 1766 that would be 589 students at Davie high School.

This has been a labor of love for the students and art teachers involved in creating these beautiful and meaningful art pieces.

Violets are $10 each and proceeds will go to Davie Domestic Violence Services and to the DHS Visual Arts Department

Please help support Teen Dating Violence Awareness and this public art project by pre-ordering violets for yourself or in honor or of others.

Pre-paid Violet orders may also be place at Mocksville Town Hall.  Limited Quantity .  Violets will be ready for pick up at Daniel Boone Family Festival ,   May 2nd, and  Davie High School May 4th
